Pillars and arches - transforming a simple verandah into a magical place! Each pillar perfectly rounded, engulfed in beautifully shaped petals at the base and the top - each one a work of art. It was almost meditative to draw each one, though with imperfect lines and proportions.

Jaipur, you are gorgeous and I miss you!

'Bawadi' or stepwells - an amazing architectural feat of the yesteryears, meant to harvest water and provide respite from the smoldering summer heat. These look like a maze of steps, numerous and symmetrical - like an inverted pyramid with a well at the bottom. Very characteristic of Rajasthan!

The quintessential 'chattri' that is seen almost everywhere in the Rajasthani architecture. A perfect blend of sandstone and marble, adorning terraces and verandas. Reminds me of so amny places in Jaipur, in particular, the gardens of Kanak Vrindavan - a quiet green space at the foothills of Amer.
