Morning traffic: Buses packed and overflowing. Cars, like slow moving beads on parallel strings. Lights changing colors in a slumber, oblivious to the hurried, impatient glances towards them. And amidst all of this, sitting in the passenger seat of a taxi, I think if I would've rather walked, free from the confines of an automobile that can barely move and allows a dissatisfying view of the city- framed boringly by its windows.

"A roadmap tells you everything except how to refold it."

Wednesday, February 22, 2012

Inspired by 'Enzo' - the dog who narrates 'The Art of Racing in the Rain' - a fantastic read!

And as his song goes:

I'd like to sit at your table, eat with a knife and fork
And I'd like to be able - to sit and talk.

I'd like to go dancing, I'd like to wear a suit
There would be more than one thing - if only I could,
If only I could.

And I'd like to caress you, when everything goes wrong,
And I'd like to tell you everything
I'd like to sing you a Song!

And I'd like to hold you, the moment when you fall
I'd really like to hold you - the moment when you fall,
The moment when you fall...

A loner

Let me tell you this: if you meet a loner, no matter what they tell you, it's not because they enjoy solitude. It's because they have tried to blend into the world before, and people continue to disappoint them. - Jodi Picoult, My Sister's Keeper

Desert Sunset

The desert sunset is simply beautiful - the vastness of the landscape, the crisp sunkissed air and everything bathed in a deep golden hue. It's a fleeting sight - the light changes every minute, and the sun sinks at the horizon faster than you realize. Ón a warm summer evening, driving westward on in the desert of Arizona, I soaked in this divine sight - a brilliantly setting sun, a coppery country road and a lorry bouncing merrily on its way.

The first signs of Autumn

The first signs of fall...its already dark by the time I finish dinner, the nights are chilly and the pavements are sprinkled with leaves; the manequinns in the shop windows flatter polo necks and jackets but we try to keep ourselves cozy with scarfs and stockings, still hoping for a warm day or two before its 'offcially' Autumn.

The tourist

The camera makes everyone a tourist in other people's reality, and eventually in one's own.
- Susan Sontag
Watercolor sketch on paper

One of the numerous people I see when going around in busy touristy places - all busy capturing the monuments and scenes in front of them.

Fields of gold

You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of Barley
You can tell the sun in his jealous sky
As we walked the fields of gold.
